Week 4

Our Mentors for this week, Kyle, Billy, Hailey, and Olivia gave us lots of important feedback. Some of it is as follows:

  • The mushroom camera is too much. Can be one shot or two even. Even slow it down.
  • Maybe don’t even show the ground in mushroom scene.
  • Have some falloff and background to the mushroom scene. Add somme mushrooms in bacground to add flavor. Would like to see it lit.
  • Don’t do solid black for the crystal base.
  • For crystal scene work on depth of feel.
  • There should be some gold coloring in the last shot to connect it to the first shot.
  • The light from the portal needs to effect the book.
  • More of the book should be in focus or in full focus. Especially for the dice.
  • Work on lighting for last shot. The book should be set up different.

Things that I need to do

  • Fix final scene set up.
  • Get final shot, shot.
  • Fix workflow to Houdini.
  • Get track put together with new footage.
  • Keep the sound designer apprised of the situation.

Before the shoot, our DP, Gloria Phun, and I decided to try and figure out some of the lighting for the final shot in Maya.

During the shoot, once the scene was set, I used Polycam to get a Lidar scan of the setup.

This was all of the usable footage that we got. We tried to do a poratl light on the scene, as was advised, however, we could not get it figured out in the time that we had left.

This is a previs of what we got done this week. We plan to have better interactive highlights on the table using a smoother version of the Lidar scan.
