Week 9
This week the Harbor Picture Company mentors came down from New York to visit us in person. We had Kyle, Molly, Justin, Billy, Vi, and Olivia. The notes that they gave us were very useful.
- Dirty up the portal in Shot 02.
- Mushrooms are too hot for the environment.
- Maybe make the red a bit cooler in Shot 02 on the crystals.
- Portal Depth of Field Shot 02.
- More bounce on dice during Shot 02.
- Dice too hot (Shot 02).
- Atmosphere.
- Camera a little too mechanical (Shot 02).
- More motion blur on portal (Shot 02).
Things that I need to do
- Noise Reduction (Shot 03)
- Get dice in correct placement and correct color area (Shot 03).
- Improve Comp.
- Color Correction across the board.
- Reflection on book from portal.
This past week, we improved upon the interactive lighting. Due to some render issues, it is a little grainy and some frames were missing. The dice, which with the previous iteration I had used a transform node, had the correct-ish shaders added and a fade of emission. However, due to the camera angle being corrected, the dice clip out at the bottom, and thus the transform trick no longer works. We are working on a re-sim. The background, generated using MidJourney, was edited to get rid of the candle in Photoshop. I am working on making the portal look better, and I believe I may have finally figured it out, with some help. Fixing the color of the lights is also on the agenda as well as noise reduction.
The Logo was also fixed to fit within the action box, which was a team efort between Santiago and I.
I smoothed out the camera move in Houdini, using Santiago’s file. Tone video on the left is before I smoothed it out, and the video on the right is after.
