Week 6

Our Mentors for this week Molly, Justin, Vi, Hailey, and Olivia gave us lots of important feedback. Some of it is as follows:

  • The spidering in the middle of the portal is off-putting. It covers the dice coming out of the portal.
  • Motion blur on portal push or fake.
  •  Add something in the background for final plate. 
  • There needs to be more mushrooms in Shot 02.
  • Maybe a volumetric light that gets occluded by the dice as they come through the portal (Shot 04).
  • Brighten floor/table for Shot 04.
  • Some the rock in Shot 03 is too shiny.
  • Continuity in camera movements.
  • Dice glow.
  • Light interaction for portal Shot 02 and Shot 04.
  • Motion Blur.
  • Maybe a candle to show light interaction (Shot 04).

Things that I need to do

  • Continue to work on interactive lighting with Wei for Shot 04.
  • Improve Nuke script.
  • Grading and Color Correcting. 
  • Improve workflow.
  • Interactive lighting Shot 02.

So, last week I was able to make a “false” Hdr using the one image that we had of my chrome sphere. 

Wei and I plan to use it to get more accurate lighting on the dice in Shot 04.

So this is Thursdays update and a video where I go through my script.

It was decided that not enough progress had been made on Shot 02, so we agreed to get rid of it and extend the crystal shot. This was my suggestion for a scene extension, which I did in Maya.
